Research is key when you are trying to portray an emotion, story or thought through art. You learn a lot about your subject when you study it. It is also important to store it all together. Information can form it’s own story as well, and shape your idea. The more information you have, the more you have to draw on for a new project. Preparation gives you more confidence to execute a perfect art piece.
Organization is important as well. You must be able to access certain information for certain moments, or else the information saved is somewhat useless.
I agreed with her when she said the box and the information is not only important when you’re working on the project. It is also important after the project is finished, and you want to reflect on it afterwards. It agrees with the article, Art For Our Sake, by claiming that an important part of the art-making process is your reflection on what you have created. You must think about how you can improve, or what you might do differently next time. Keeping your research could also help you with another project, or looking back on research could inspire a new idea, or project.

Danielle,
ReplyDeleteI really like what you said at the end of this post - how keeping your ideas and process in a "box" or some form of stored organization is an important part of the process of working and can help you to better understand your own process, methods and decisions you made - that these are important because they can help to inform future work. - Trena
